It's a very well-known ornamental banana plant with red blotches on the top surface of the leaves, as well as reddish undersides to the leaves. A beautiful plant, it isn't particularly cold-hardy. It can easily be grown in pots, however. just bring it inside when it gets cold outside! If you're lucky enough to see it flower, the bananas that are produced are supposedly sweet, but you have to navigate around hundreds of very hard, tooth-cracking, black seeds. I recently acquired a large amount of seeds, and am able to offer them at a low price. Seeds aren't offered very often with this species because of how common plants are, but you never know what you might get with seeds! Zebrina is known to hybridize with other species of Musa quite readily, and these are grown next to other ornamental and edible Musa in Indonesia. For that reason, I can't guarantee that they are true to type, but hey, that's part of the fun of growing plants from seedSow in a 50\/50 peat\/vermiculite (or perlite) mix, and put on alternating heat at 95F day, 70F night. Also, and this is important, DON'T GIVE UP ON THEM!!! I have had Musa seeds sprout over 2 years after sowing, but the key is to hydrate them right after you get them and sow immediately. They need that time IN THE SOIL (or soilless media, in this case). I also occasionally let them dry out if they haven't sprouted for several months.
